Objectives and competences
Objectives
1. We intend to train students in the creation and management of contents adapted to the new digital platforms and social media, taking into account that:
- The contents will be covered through informative, persuasive and non-fiction texts.
- Mastery of all types of media (text, audio, video, etc.) for the creation and management of content will be achieved.
- Students will learn to create communication projects using specific and updated software.
2. We also aim to help students consolidate their plurilingual competence at an expert level (C1+/C2), taking into account that:
- A variety of skills, namely, comprehension and production of oral and written texts, will be put into practicein two or three of the following languages: Spanish, Catalan and English.
- Linguistic mediation strategies enabling text transformation will be acquired. These include summarising texts, adapting them to different registers or translating them.
- Students will learn to use inclusive language, considering gender, culture and identity, as well as other aspects related to social diversity.
- Students will learn to use a specialised linguistic repertoire specific to the field of digital communication.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge
1) Demonstrate a critical understanding of a wide range of theories, principles and concepts related to digital communication and applied linguistics.
2) Discuss on a broad and up-to-date theoretical basis the role of technology in the field of digital communication for processing, elaborating and transmitting information.
3) Critically select specialised scientific theories to carry out learning activities related to discourse analysis in the field of digital communication.
Skills
4) Apply complex and specialised theoretical-methodological models in the analysis of digital communication genres and formats in new, imprecise and changing environments.
5) Communicate ideas and conclusions clearly and unambiguously, for specific communication purposes, to specialised and non-specialised audiences, and with the help of technological tools.
6) Bring solutions to complex and/or ill-defined real-life cases to multimodal communicative practices in relation to form and language use, the treatment of identity, interculturality and gender.
7) Explain any knowledge/information clearly and accurately, orally and in writing, in Catalan, Spanish and a third language, especially English (UdL cross-curricular learning outcome).
8) Use the languages chosen by each student (Spanish-Catalan, English-Spanish, English-Catalan, English-Catalan-Spanish) at a competent user level for the contexts, purposes and recipients of written and oral texts typical of digital communication.
9) Exercise each student's multilingual competence in the third language of the bilingual pathways at a minimum level of independent user (English for Spanish-Catalan, Catalan for English-Spanish; and Spanish for English-Catalan).
10) Mediate texts between the languages chosen by each learner at a competent user level in a clear and unambiguous way according to emerging contexts and situations of digital communication.
11) Integrate knowledge of the discursive resources of digital environments for the design of digital content.
12) Evaluate strategic communication projects by identifying areas for improvement in terms of possible technological and communicative alternatives.
13) Apply digital technologies (when necessary) in their field of knowledge in the chosen languages (transversal learning outcome of the UdL).
14) Solve problems in the creation and dissemination of digital content in a strategic and creative way, operating effectively with specific and current software.
15) Plan and execute research work for vaguely defined new environments demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of theoretical frameworks in applied linguistics and digital communication.
16) Assess the feasibility of transferring the results of scientific and/or technological research in the field of digital communication to professional environments.
Competences
17) Effectively apply complex personal skills related to autonomous learning (planning and time management), linguistic reflection and creativity.
18) Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills for collaborative peer learning (interaction management) and for teamwork with academic and professional supervisors (linguistic adequacy and initiative).
19) Design interventions in real digital communication projects derived from the analysis of complex needs in the professional field in an efficient and original way.
20) Apply the knowledge and tools of mediation and management of linguistic diversity in complex communicative situations specific to professional activity in a multilingual environment.
21) Propose innovative, creative and entrepreneurial solutions specific to professional fields (UdL cross-curricular learning outcome).
22) Evaluate the sustainability and social impact of the suggestions developed with ethical, environmental and professional responsibility (UdL cross-curricular learning outcome).
23) Apply the gender perspective in professional tasks (UdL cross-curricular learning outcome).
